Well, we returned home last night, around six o'clock.
The beach house was exactly as I remembered it. Located directly across from the Bass River, the place was built in the early 1900s, but the family had intended it to serve as a retirement home, and everything looks as though it came out of the 1800s. The common room is filled with first editions and a player piano, and of course, hokey as it may seem, a large journal for everyone to share their experiences.
The weather was gorgeous for most of the week. And, except for the first night, where the water was littered with the bad kind of jellyfish (Pauline was stung twice), the swimming was great. We even went out one night to watch the jellyfish glowing in the dark.
Our time was spent kayaking, swimming, playing board games, reading, and getting to know each other again. Starting on Thursday, we started to let people into our world, culminating in a big old party on Saturday that went wonderfully. Corb and I found a moment to sneak off together and have our own private party one night. We had some moments of drama, too, but they managed to pass pretty quickly, likes waves upon the shore. I did manage to do quite a bit of editing on Amelia. And finally, I was able to fulfill a few personal wishes that I had set at the beginning of the trip!
It was a great vacation, although for some reason, I'm feeling tired as hell this morning, not renewed and refreshed. I wish I had one more day off, of course. But I do have to go into work today, because I have a big assignment that I have to work on.
More on all that in the days to come. I've got a few things to say!
