No, it's watching the first season of Bewitched , actually. I tell you, there's just something about Elizabeth Montgomery that does something to me. She's just so pretty. I always thought my mom sort of looked like her, when she was younger.
Even though the episodes were originally aired in black and white, I bought the colorized set. I don't mind it, one bit. I mean, we all know what the color scheme is going to be from later episodes, right?
I know, this sounds so hokey. And yes, these episodes were definitely the product of a bygone era, a time when the man went to work to bring home the bacon (and apparently consumed a lot of alcohol while he was there), and the woman stayed at home and took care of her pretty little house on Morning Glory Circle. But keep in mind, that image of suburban splendor was always counterbalanced with the presence of Endora.
But there's just something about snuggling on the couch and watching Darren and Samantha bicker and make up. I don't know...it's just, romantic. It just makes you grateful to be a part of a couple. I know that it sounds absolutely boring and pedestrian, but there it is.
Yesterday, Corb called me on the phone and said, "Honey? What would you do if you were a witch and your mother turned me into an artichoke?"
I don't know how I knew, because I hadn't yet seen the episode, but I pulled the right answer out of my ass, somehow. "Oh, honey, there's only one thing I could do. I'd turned myself into an artichoke, of course. If you're a leafy green, then I want to be one, too."
I know, I can hear some of you gaging from halfway across the country. But, I already ordered Season Two on e-bay.
